Based on my favourite childhood book by Enid Blyton.
Experimenting with leaf and bark making techniques including use of Paverpol and Mulberry Bark. Fabric leaves are made from dresssmaking remnants and project books from recycled, recovered photo albums
Each made from the contents of discarded silk swatch books, colours are embellished, stitched, appliqued and manipulated to create larger pieces. Each has a diffrent theme including:
Thunderstorm on the Moors -recreating the feeling of the many phases of a thunderstorm. Mondrian - Various pieces inspired by the colourful simplicity of Piet Mondrian's early 20th Century De Stijl art work.
Based on the surrounding south coast and the many beaches and aquariums I have visited around the globe. The base fabric is from a recycled shellsuit, lightly padded to raise the surface which is then embellished with french knots, seed stitches, beads and painted Tyvek.
